:: Ayurveda

Ayurveda is the traditional health science of India. It is considered to be the oldest branch of medicine in the whole world. Ayurveda is an intricate system of healing that originated in India thousands of years ago. We can find historical evidence of Ayurveda in the ancient books of wisdom known as the Vedas. In the Rig Veda, over 60 preparations were mentioned that could be used to assist an individual in overcoming various ailments.

The Rig Veda was written over 6,000 years ago, but really Ayurveda has been around even longer than that, What we see is that Ayurveda is more than just a medical system. It is the Science of Life. We are all part and parcel of nature. Just as the animals and plants live in harmony with nature and utilize the Laws of Nature to create health and balance within their beings, we, too, adhere to these very same principles. Therefore, it is fair to say that Ayurveda is a system that helps maintain health in a person by using the inherent principles of nature to bring the individual back into equilibrium with their true self. In essence Ayurveda has been in existence since the beginning of time because we have always been governed by nature's laws.

Ayurveda is made up of two Sanskrit words: 'Ayu' which means life and 'Veda' which means the knowledge of. To know about life is Ayurveda. However, to fully comprehend the vast scope of Ayurveda let us first define "Ayu" or life. According to the ancient Ayurvedic scholar Charaka, "ayu" is comprised of four essential parts. The combination of mind, body, senses and the soul.

Panchakarma

Ayurvedic Pancha Karma therapy is the most powerful way of addressing the root causes of disease. Pancha Karma purifies both the digestive system and the mind. Removing impurities from the body via the digestive system and bringing balance to the mind is the art of Ayurvedic Pancha Karma. Panchakarma literally means "five actions”. During a typical panchakarma, the patient spends the full course of the treatment away from the obligations and stresses of daily life to allow for true rest and renewal. A daily routine of treatments, including herbs, massage, purgation and various applications of medicated oil is administered, in addition to a healing diet for ultimate detoxification and rejuvenation.

Rejuvenation

The toxins / free radicals produced by the constant metabolic activities in the body damage the body cells resulting in wear and tear of the body, which is nothing but aging. The process of aging is accelerated by improper life-style, food habits and prolonged stress and strain.The programs that are offered under this package are aimed at restoring the vigor and vitality of the body by eliminating the toxins and by enhancing the body's immunity through their anti - oxidant & prophylactic properties. According to Ayurveda, continuous indulgence in high fat food, fried items, etc., along with sedentary life-style leads to excess accumulation of body fat which gets deposited in the numerous body channels. Special programs are included in this package with the purpose to cut down this excess fat, to correct the irregular metabolism and to clear the body channels. Deep dry massage with herbal powders and pastes, synchronized massage with specific oils, steam bath, etc., mobilize the accumulated fat, where as, specially designed diet programs prevent its further accumulation. Practice of specific yoga postures is also advised to reduce body weight. Along with these, appropriate Panchakarma therapies are also advised by the physicians based on the requirements of the individuals

Yoga and Meditation

The term ‘Yoga’ has its roots in Sanskrit. It means ‘union’. Therefore, yoga helps an individual to achieve the ultimate goal of human life. In fact, all our activities are targeted towards the realization of this supreme mission. Yoga is the spiritual path through which one will have to tread to reach one’s destination. And, to reach that goal, obviously one will have to dedicatedly follow the road signs. Here, the three indicators are hygienic lifestyle, ethical regulation and moral self-control. Their combined effect is fascinating, to say the least! A person who has observed all these regulations will also have sure control over his mind. That, in turn, will reinforce his spiritual faculty. Once his mind and spirit are in harmony, his physical body will also be within their purview.

Beauty Care

Ayurveda aims at bringing together in a harmonious manner to promote physical, emotional and spiritual growth. In Ayurveda, the beauty of the inner and outer self are given due importance. The more we care for ourselves, the more our beauty and radiance gets enhanced - regardless of our shape and contours. Beauty, in the other fields, may emphasize on the way we look and the qualities we possess. But Ayurveda delves deeper. Besides the skin texture, hair type and body quality, Ayurveda lays accent on the way we move and carry ourselves, the lifestyle we follow, the freshness we emanate etc. Ayurveda does not see beauty as a cosmetic affair. Ayurveda calls for self care and also development of positive routines and rituals that will help bring out the best in us.

Stress Management

Modern age is the age of stress and strain. The fast life is exciting as well as overtaxing. The holistic approach of Ayurveda tackles these hazards in its own natural way. It focuses on the impact of the mind on body, and vice versa.
